This client wanted to replace a faux arrangement in the lobby of her upper west side New York City condominium.
The ceilings are over 10 feet in height, and the walls are constructed of beautiful limestone. The arrangement needed to sit on an already existing table in a niche in the lobby and be designed for three seasons (excluding the winter holidays).
The result is an arrangement of orange, pale pink and green ranunculus, pink and apple-green tinged hydrangea, lime-colored hydrangea and wine-colored peonies to add warmth and brightness to the space — a fresh modern look to match the age of the building with a contemporary twist.
A client in East Hampton wanted something to fill her summer planters. Her backyard has a considerable amount of shade, and as a result she was looking for something that would thrive in shade but would also brighten the far end of her property.
This arrangement is made up a variety of coleus plants that add wonderful color and thrive in the shade. The hanging nature of one of the varieties adds drama to an otherwise quiet area.
This client has a home at the New Jersey shore and wanted something contemporary.
She already had her own containers and was looking to fill them with succulents.
The mix of colors and textures creates great appeal. These are succulents arranged in cement containers.
This holiday planter was designed for a customer who was looking for height and color to fill a small space in front of her home by her front door.
The materials are all natural (pinecones, white pine, red sticks, magnolia, and winterberry). Red faux berries are added to provide color over the winter, as the birds will eventually eat the winterberries.
When designing an outdoor planter, Julie always takes into consideration proportion, location, style, and house color.
